Skela
Artist
I am Skela, an artist who harnesses my Sanguine Skills to illuminate even the darkest of days. Sanguine means to be particularly positive in a very bad situation and my skills are everything I have picked up on my journey. I am completely tri-lingual French, Spanish and English which is always useful on my adventures. Growing up in France and Malawi and having lived all over, I got stung by the itch to travel and discover the magic of each culture. The world has become overwhelmingly negative, so my mission is to infuse it with color and joy. Through my artwork, characterized by a style I've coined called "Skelarizing," a geometrical shell that embodies and explodes with color, nature, and energy, I have been creating and exploring my own allegorical mythology, while discussing extinction, pollution, and the plethora of discrepancies on the planet. I consider myself an Artivist at heart with galactic messages. I studied fine arts at Ringling College of Art and Design and graduated in 2006. Since then, my artistic path has led me across continents—from embracing street art in Europe to moving to San Francisco CA, where I became the head scenic artist for an event production company to eventually ending up in New Orleans LA, where before becoming a fulltime artist, I managed an art gallery. Recently, I've made Denver, CO my home, continuing to evolve as a full-time artist dedicated to spreading positivity through my vibrant creations.
